It seems like it has to be lined up just right to go on. I do find hooking the pastern strap over the screw can be a little difficult. The shell seems durable enough but I thought I'd mention it. We have also noticed the screws can cause scrapes if the horse rubs one hoof against another. I don't know if it will be a problem or not in the long run. While it is not a problem to clean the grit from the shell after a ride, it is harder to clean the grit out in the other section. In terms of negative comments, we do get dirt/sand/grit in the boot shell and in the gap where the heel adjustment piece slides back/forth. However, after a break, we tried them again and thought that maybe he went just a little better with them on than without them so we'll use them again for a while. We used them regularly for a while but as he became less footsore over time (Easycare Clouds were helpful too), we stopped using them. I was sure to apply the loctite to the screws once we decided on the dimensions. It did take some tinkering to figure out the heel length and I think there could be more instructions on how to judge it. Originally, we did some lunge line trials and the horse was definitely more comfortable with them on than barefoot even though there are no pads. As the hoof flaring has improved over time, the shell portion improved in fit though one hoof still shows a little gap at the top. The adjustable heel sling made it possible to use these boots and also stayed away from a previous heel rub area that was healing. After determining the correct size, I ordered through RW. For the Fury Slings, I originally ordered the Easycare Fit Kit (through Easycare) to see if the shell would work and it seemed to accommodate the flaring a bit better. The boot part didn't handle the flaring in his hooves either. Originally, we tried the Scoot Boots but my geldings heels were too tall so the boots did not work. Comments: We had used Cavallo Trek boots for many years for a "recovering laminitic" (arena riding only) and I wanted to see if I could find something that was less bulky.
